New Video: What It’s Like to Ride the Disney Skyliner

Yesterday, Disney unveiled their new Skyliner Gondolas. Everyone agrees, they are bright and beautiful. But what is it like on the inside? Many have hypothesized that in the hot and moist Florida weather, a small cabin without air conditioning will not go over well. Would you like to see what it’s like?

Let’s Go For a Ride

This week, I was in Sentosa, an island resort that is part of Singapore. When Disney announced the gondolas a couple of years ago, I immediately thought of Sentosa. Yes…Disney’s copying the best practices of another resort. But in this instance, the Singapore Cable Car, as it’s referred to, is a set of two lines guests pay to enjoy. One line goes across the island, and another across the harbor. While I do have some trepidation about heights, I decided to try the island route. I was really surprised how really cool they look. Check out the video below.

The good news is that these cable cars do manage to rotate the air quite well. Air movement is important for people who deal with claustrophobia, that’s why you have air vents in front of every window on Disneyland’s submarines. You’ll see that in this next video where we take a seat.

For those of you with a fear of heights, there is more good news. The skyway in Singapore climbs to almost 200 feet above the sea. In contrast, the Disney Skyliner, at its highest point, is less than 60 feet off the ground.
