Frontierland
Critter Country is separated from Frontierland by New Orleans Square, but still, the Rivers of America tie the two together. In a way, they are bookends to the river. Frontierland plays host to Big Thunder Railroad–a runaway roller coaster through an abandoned mining town.
Those who love Mexican food can seek out Rancho del Zocalo overlooking Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. A more entertaining casual dining experience is the Golden Horseshoe. Its food is not remarkable for counter service, but they have great entertainment in the form of the Laughing Stock Company and other shows. You can’t get more than a self-playing piano at Walt Disney World—and you’ll pay a lot of money for that.
Not one but two major ships set sail—The Mark Twain Riverboatand the Sailing Ship Columbia. They provide scenic views of the river. For a true retreat in the wilderness, head to Tom Sawyer’s Islandon a raft. The island is full of intimate trails free for exploration, and time spent on the island will take you to another world.
That same river turns into something entirely different at night when guests view Fantasmic! This is an extravaganza worthy of staying through the evening. Get a FastPass that allows you access into one of the viewing areas. But get them early—they go fast.
