Main Street, U.S.A.
Main Street U.S.A. is a great place to start your journey through the Disneyland Resort. Step past the gates and you’ll see a floral Mickey greeting guests. “It all started with a mouse”, as Walt noted, but Disneyland was especially helped by Walt’s love of trains, with a station found standing just above that garden.
Turn the corner and you’re flanked by two more reminders of Walt. Here you’ll find the firehouse. Look above and you’ll see a lamp sitting at the window above. That second floor was where Walt and his wife would come and stay during the weekend.
Across the way you’ll find Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Born in Illinois, Walt had a great fondness for the 16thpresident of the United States. It’s not the Hall of Presidents, but it’s filled with a love of country that can’t be missed.
On the corner lies the Emporium. Stop and study the windows. Patience will pay off as you stay and watch the windows unfold. They are small gems of beauty.
Further down the street there’s the Main Street Cinema. Walt’s earliest cartoon creations are on display there. Yes…Main Street, U.S.A. is about Walt’s childhood. But it’s about so much more. It’s a tribute to one of the most creative American originals.
Quaint restaurants can be found throughout Main Street, U.S.A. as well. Carnation Café offers not only a sit down lunch and dinner, but also an early breakfast as you enter the park.
Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor provides plenty of cones and sundaes.
Refreshment Corner offers Coca Cola, hot dogs, and chips. Around Central Plaza, the Plaza Inn offers salads and the ever-popular fried chicken.
Jolly Holiday Bakery offers wonderful sandwiches, soups and of course, baked goods, all set to the theme of Mary Poppins. Both of these restaurants offer great views of the Central Plaza area as guests come and go.
Main Street empties into a beautiful park like setting, which becomes the hub for the entire park. From here you can venture into the many lands of Disneyland.
